Wedding at Hampton Court House – Mandy and Gordon
Hampton Court House. Wow. Sometimes I feel like a broken record. The downside (if there is one) of posting on your own blog for over 10 years coupled with the fact that I frequent some of the same locations many times a year, is the somewhat repetitive thoughts that come spewing out. So today, I’m going to look past the amazing light, fantastic spaces, Surrey based palm trees and take a different tack.
Naturally every wedding at Hampton Court House is different. Just as any other wedding is. But just knowing I’m going to one of the coolest venues around gets me really excited.
Naturally filling it with great people helps. Boy did they. Let’s talk about the obvious. If you look at 100 blogs of wedding photographers the odds are that Mandy and Gordon won’t fall into the general demographic of most wedding couples. This is clear. But what most people don’t realise is just how totally awesome this is.
Its a totally different vibe. Hear me out. At a statistically average aged wedding you’ll have a majority of 20 to 30 somethings and handful of folks from a wiser generation. The young ones will make noise, be rowdy and generally egg the wiser folks to shake their heads and say “In my day….”.
I can tell you now that this is nonsense. Fill the room with the ‘wise’ ones and watch what happens. EVERY table is making noise, being rowdy and then in a complete reversal of roles, eggs the smaller number of 20/30s to get rowdy. It’s amazing. Its such a free and open occasion. Everything is a just a little bit more nuts.
Big shout out to Emma at Acclaim Food for delivering a fantastic event at Hampton Court House. Its always a treat to work with them (and the ever smiley Emma).
