Skinners Hall – London – Eleanor and Tim
Winding back the hands of time again. But for this, we have a reason. Not because its an anniversary of their wedding. Or that I’m returning to Skinners Hall. No. The real reason is because Eleanor and Tim will be guests at a wedding I’m shooting at the weekend. This is, without doubt, one of the best bits of being wedding photographer. To arrive at a wedding knowing you’ll already have some familiar faces in the crowd. A few folks who know exactly what you do and how you work. Plus to be able to chat and see how life is going in the 2+ years since they were married.
This wedding will always have a song attached. No, not a first dance or a special performance by a friend (both of which did actually happen — as they say in Mambo No 5 “Trumpet”). Its all to do with Marryoke. Maybe its a trend you haven’t seen. I’ve only been privy to it once (at this wedding). It involves lip syncing and dancing to a single song, over and over, for the videographers which they use to make a video. Ladies and Gentleman I give you. “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire. “Do you remember…”
Much more important than a song is a day that will always be special to me. Could it be for the lovely Bride? It could. It is. But there’s more. Could it be for actually navigating through London (BY CAR!!!) and getting there on time and with FREE parking. It could. It is. But there’s more. Could it be the amazing terrace at Skinners Hall allowing a garden party feel in the heart of London. It could. It is. But there’s more. So many things all add up to help take your breath away when you first open the doors and set eyes on where the wedding breakfast was to be held. Jaw dropping. Set up in 3 long tables. A banquet designed for Royalty and Heads of State. It was a scene out of a movie which I can’t even name.
But none of this means much if you can’t have a good time. A boy what a good time they had! “September!” at Skinners Hall.
